Local network

H2R Graphics can be controlled from any other computer, iPad or iPhone on your local network, with no extra software to install. Switch one setting, open a URL in a browser, and you get the same H2R Graphics interface you use on the main computer.

This is useful when an operator wants to run graphics from a laptop at the side of the stage, or a producer wants to fire lower thirds from an iPad.

Before you start

You need two things:

  • H2R Graphics running on your main computer.
  • The other device (computer, iPad or iPhone) connected to the same network as that main computer, either over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

1. Switch to “Your Network”

By default, H2R Graphics is only reachable from the computer it is running on. To open it up to other devices, find the Network settings in the left sidebar of the Launcher and change the option from This computer to Your Network.

2. Open H2R Graphics on the other device

There are two ways to connect. Pick whichever suits the device.

On another computer: enter the URL

Type the network URL shown in H2R Graphics into the address bar of any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox) on the other computer.

On an iPad or iPhone: scan the QR code

The Launcher shows a QR code for the network URL. Point the iPad or iPhone camera at it and tap the link that appears. No typing needed.

3. Use it just the same

That’s it. H2R Graphics works exactly as it does on the main computer. Every connected device controls the same project, so a graphic fired from the iPad goes live on the main output straight away.

Troubleshooting

If the page won’t load on the other device:

  • Check both devices are on the same network. A phone on mobile data, or a laptop on a guest Wi-Fi, won’t be able to reach it.
  • Check “Your Network” is still selected in the Network settings in the left sidebar of the Launcher.
  • Allow H2R Graphics through the firewall. If your computer asked whether to allow incoming connections when you switched, choose Allow.
  • Avoid guest or public Wi-Fi. Many of these block devices from talking to each other.
  • Re-check the URL after a restart. If the main computer’s IP address changes, the URL changes too. Scan the QR code again or copy the new URL.
