Test Pattern graphic (Pro)

The Test Pattern graphic gives you a set of reference patterns for lining up and checking your output. It’s handy for setting up a camera, checking a capture card, or confirming your output is reaching its destination correctly.

Choosing a pattern

Use the Pattern dropdown to pick from:

  • Colour bars: classic broadcast colour bars.
  • Grid and screen dimension: a grid with the screen dimensions, useful for alignment.
  • EBU 75%: the EBU 75% colour bars.

Test tone

As well as a visual pattern, the Test Pattern graphic can play a reference audio tone. This is great for checking your audio path end to end alongside the picture.

Test tone settings
The test tone settings

Turn the tone on with the Tone on / Tone off toggle, then choose the Sound:

  • Tone: a steady 1 kHz reference tone.
  • Ring: a repeating chime, useful as a recognisable, non-constant sound.
  • Sweep: a tone that sweeps up through the frequency range and loops.

Use the Tone volume slider to set the level. The volume changes smoothly so you won’t get any clicks or pops when adjusting it.

Note: The test tone follows your output’s mute settings. If an output is muted, the tone won’t play on it.
